Investigating - Impact:
The 'Restart Services' function that is needed when DHCP ranges/hosts/filters are added/changed is not available for Department Administrator accounts. The vendor is currently working on a fix for this bug. As a workaround, the Restart Services function has been scheduled to run on an hourly basis.

Locations Affected:
When a department network administrator makes a change to a DHCP range, or IPv4 filter, a restart services is required in order for that change to take effect. The restart services function is currently not available to Department Admin accounts. Only superuser accounts currently have the ability to perform a restart services.

Status:
The Restart Services function has been scheduled to run on an hourly basis. This will remain until the vendor releases a software update that includes the fix for this bug.

Scheduled - Purpose:
Colleagues,

Scriba, which hosts SmartSite for UC Davis, told UC Davis Thursday afternoon that the company is taking SmartSite offline this weekend for emergency maintenance. SmartSite will be unavailable from 9 p.m. Friday, May 20, until 11 a.m. Monday, May 23 (all Pacific time).

Scriba hosts Sakai-based learning management systems like SmartSite for several universities and colleges, and the outage will affect all of them. UC Davis has contacted Scriba to protest the short notice and extended duration of the outage, but the interruption in service seems unavoidable. Faculty, students, and staff should plan accordingly.

If possible, any work you would normally do in SmartSite from Friday night through Monday morning should be done outside of SmartSite. You can move the work into SmartSite after the interruption, as needed.

Affected Users:
All users of SmartSite, system will be unavailable for the entire window

Impact after Window:
UC Davis staff and Scriba engineers will monitor the system for performance after downtime is concluded.

Update - For any sites using .Net CAS clients that are still non-functional: removing the "proxyTicketManager" property of the CAS configuration seems to resolve the problem. This property enables Proxy Authentication, which in almost all cases is not necessary, and is currently not working as intended.
