Purpose:
Facilities will test the Campus Data Center's fail-over equipment as part of this maintenance. The Campus Data Center will be switched, briefly, to the power supplied by the generator. This semi-annual test, which occurs on the first Fridays of April and October, is part of an established maintenance schedule.

Impact:
High Performance Computing servers and other co-location equipment which are not on UPS and hosted within the Campus Data Center, will lose power during the test. No impact to other services is expected. The Campus Data Center UPS systems will carry the load during the transition to the generator.

Affected Services:
High Performance Computing servers and other co-location equipment hosted within the Campus Data Center, and not on UPS, will be affected. In the event of a UPS failure, other services which are hosted in the Campus Data Center may be disrupted.
