Purpose:
Facilities will test the Campus Data Center backup-power generator and automatic power-transfer system to ensure the system is functional and prepared for an actual utility power-outage. This semi-annual test occurs on the first Friday of April and October, and is part of an established maintenance schedule.
Impact:
Any High Performance Computing servers or other co-location equipment which are not served by a UPS and hosted in the Data Center, will lose power during the test. No impact to other services is expected.
Affected Services:
The affected equipment will be High Performance Computing servers, or other co-location equipment, which are not on a UPS. Other services hosted in the Campus Data Center may be affected if a UPS failure occurs.
