Purpose:
The NOC has a new Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) managing automated backup power switching. The vender who built the ATS will be onsite to conduct vender startup procedures. These are tests to validate proper installation and commencement of warrantee.
Impact:
There should be no client impact since the ATS will only be switched from utility power to generator power and back. Power transition is about 8 seconds to generator and less than a second to go back. All NOC systems are protected by backup power during these transitions. This new ATS has a very advantageous new feature that one side of the ATS can be maintained/handled (racked out) while the other side is energized without posing risk of high voltage electrocution. This permits us to conduct servicing like this without extended power outages.
